Whitewater Rafting on the Black River



Once you have registered and paid online, you must then use the links below to complete the required waiver forms. These forms must be submitted at least 3 business days prior to your trip date:

1) SU Assumption of Risk / Waiver / Release FormAll participants must sign the form linked above. If you are under 18, you will also need a parent / guardian signature on the same form.

2) Adirondack River Outfitters (ARO) Waiver: if you are 18 years of age or older

3) Adirondack River Outfitters (ARO) Waiver: only if you are under 18 years of age
This form must be signed by both you and your parent / guardian.

Trip Details:

Yellow School Buses leave from College Place (in front of Sims Hall) at 10:25am sharp:
Please be there by 10:15am to check in on the bus, etc..

  • Be sure to eat a full breakfast before you meet the bus or bring breakfast to eat on the bus. Feel free to bring a snack, as it will be a long time before we get to eat.
  • No matter what the weather is like outside, be sure to load up on the sunscreen protection!
  • We go whether it’s sunny or raining. We go whether it’s 90 or 60.
  • Be sure to make a bathroom stop before leaving. The trip is about 90 minutes from SU. There are no planned restroom stops and there is no bathroom on the bus.

Time: Buses leave promptly at 10:25 a.m. and return to SU around 6:30 p.m.

What’s Included:

  • Roundtrip transportation from SU’s College Place to Watertown
  • All rafting equipment
  • Safety equipment (Helmet and Flotation Device)
  • Wet suits if needed
  • Guided trips (One guide in every boat)
  • Three to four hours on the water (depending on water level)
  • Rest stop with snacks and drinks and Barbecue after the trip

What to Bring:

  • Your SU ID card
  • A positive, fun attitude (You will paddle and get wet)
  • A willingness to listen to your guide
  • A change of clothes (including shoes) for after the river trip
  • A windbreaker or fleece for the river
  • Water booties, Tevas and aqua socks or an old pair of sneakers.
  • Any medication you would normally take throughout the day (e.g. Asthma Inhaler)
  • Money if you would like to buy pictures of the trip or tip your River Guide.
