Dogsled and Snowshoe Expedition

Explore Minnesota’s backcountry by Dog Sled, XC Ski, and Snowshoe!

Sunday January 6, 2019 through Saturday January 12, 2019

This trip will explore the remote northern woodlands of Ely, Minnesota over winter break. We will spend 6 days total at the Wintergreen Dogsled Lodge learning how to care for the dogs, operate and drive a dogsled, cross country ski and snowshoe, navigate the wilderness using a map and compass, and more! We will spend 4 days & 3 nights exploring the profound Minnesota backcountry trail systems, learning about local history and ecology, and gaining new skills in winter camping!


Transportation Details:

  • You will need to secure your own flight to Duluth, Minnesota.
  • Please do not buy your flight until you speak with Julie DeLeo about the trip details!

What’s Included:

  • Ground transportation from the Duluth Minnesota airport to the trip site (group van)
  • All group equipment needed for the trip
  • Dog sledding, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, backcountry winter camping and more!
  • Food & lodging

What to Bring:

  • Personal clothing and gear (more detail will be provided to interested participants).
  • A positive, fun attitude: this will be a fairly strenuous expedition style trip.
  • A willingness to listen to your instructor and to follow all applicable rules.
  • Any medication you would normally take throughout the day (e.g. Asthma Inhaler).
  • More detail on what to pack / bring will be provided to trip registrants
